Sustainability & ESG Charter
Environmental, social and governance commitments applied to project preparation and delivery.
No NBP project has entered delivery, so no environmental or social outcome has yet been measured. What follows are the commitments that govern preparation — testable against any project record once assessments begin.
Environmental assessment as an input
Environmental and social screening informs design rather than being obtained afterward as a consent. A programme whose environmental case fails is redesigned or stopped, not defended.
Assessment to lender standard
Assessment is completed to the standard national regulation and applicable lender policy require, before any financing commitment is sought.
Land and livelihoods
Land acquisition, resettlement risk and livelihood impact are assessed and disclosed. Where displacement cannot be avoided, the mitigation is designed with the affected community and costed into the programme.
Climate resilience
Assets are designed for the climate conditions expected over their operating life, not the conditions recorded historically.
Local content
Programmes are designed so that delivery and operation build domestic capability. Local content requirements are set at levels domestic suppliers can meet and raised as capability develops.
Governance
Conflicts of interest are declared before engagement. Claims about environmental or social performance are reviewed against evidence before publication, like every other claim.
Measurement
Environmental and social outcomes are measured against baselines with named verification sources, and reported whether or not they are favourable.
